1. Who We Are

BetterMoslim is operated by Rising Seed Ltd. ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with this policy and applicable data protection laws.

2. What Data We Collect

Data you provide directly

• Account information: name, email address, and password (hashed — never stored in plain text)
• Profile settings: language preference, prayer calculation method, adhkar mode
• Life assessment scores you enter during onboarding and reviews
• Goals and behaviors you define
• Review reflections (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly)
• Du'a journal entries (encrypted at rest)
• Sadaqah, fasting, and Quran progress logs
• Vision board images (stored in Supabase Storage)

Data collected automatically

• App version and locale
• Approximate location — only when you request prayer times, never stored persistently on our servers

Data we do NOT collect

• We never read your du'a journal, reflections, or personal notes
• We do not collect precise GPS coordinates
• We do not track you across other apps or websites
• We do not collect contacts, photos, or microphone data
• We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services at launch

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and improve the BetterMoslim app and its features
• To sync your data across your devices when you create an account
• To send you notifications you have opted into (prayer reminders, review prompts, streak alerts)
• To process your Lifetime purchase through the App Store or Google Play (payment details are handled by Apple/Google — we never see your card information)
• To respond to support requests

4. Offline-First Architecture

BetterMoslim is designed offline-first. All your daily tracking, adhkar flows, and core app features work entirely on your device without an internet connection. Your data is stored locally in an encrypted SQLite database.

If you create an account, your data is synced to our servers using a pull-then-push protocol with conflict resolution based on timestamps. You can delete your cloud data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Period.

We share data only with the following trusted service providers, strictly to operate the app:

• Supabase — cloud database, authentication, and image storage (EU region servers)
• RevenueCat — in-app purchase management (payment data stays with Apple/Google)

We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users — but we will notify you when legally permitted to do so.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days. Local device data is deleted immediately when you use the "Reset Data" function in Settings.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Export your data in JSON format (available in Settings → Data Management)
• Withdraw consent for optional data processing

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@bettermoslim.com — we aim to respond within 5 business days.

8. Children's Privacy

BetterMoslim is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

9. Security

We take security seriously. All data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256. We use row-level security (RLS) on all database tables to ensure you can only access your own data.

No system is 100% secure — if you discover a vulnerability, please report it responsibly to privacy@bettermoslim.com

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification and by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of BetterMoslim after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
